Mogwai's "The Bad Fire" werd opgenomen in de Chem19-studio's in Schotland met de Amerikaanse Grammy Award-winnende producer John Congleton (St Vincent, Angel Olsen, John Grant) die zich bij de band voegde in de studio voor hun elfde album. The Bad Fire, een Schotse spreektaal voor de hel, haalt inspiratie uit een reeks moeilijke persoonlijke momenten die de band bevond na hun tiende album, As The Love Continues. Al het vinyl wordt geleverd in een klaphoes, met MP3-downloadcode en ets. Het fotoboekje in de boxsets bevat een reeks foto's die producer en Chem19-studio-eigenaar Paul Savage (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, Arab Strap) heeft gemaakt tijdens de opnamesessies van de band.
